Louisiana Al is the real deal.
Born in 1968, Alonzo Jones, also known as, Louisiana Al is one of the finest performers to emerge on the American Blues scene in recent years. As much a native son to Chicago as he is to Simmesport, Louisiana, Al grew up in the heart of the south engulfed in the rhythms of the Blues. His mother Lucille was a gospel singer and his father, a dedicated Jazz enthusiast and Blues fan. Through this early introduction to different genres of music, Al discovered his passion for Blues and began to sharpen his talents by entertaining his ailing grandmother with his renditions of Howling Wolf songs which brought her extreme delight. As a young man, AL realized that there’s magic in music and that he had a unique gift that needed to be shared with the world.
Al would later go on to study under the legendary Killer Ray Allison of Chicago (2016), who was the first person to ever refer to his as “Louisiana AL” , paying homage to Al’s strong southern heritage. This invaluable mentorship and friendship inspired and enabled Al to establish his own band.
As a band leader, Louisiana Al has made quite a name for himself performing at venues across the country, commanding audiences with his natural rich, deep baritone voice on top of smooth rhythms in a relaxed atmosphere. Whether he’s paying tribute to his idols and influences, doing a flawless cover of Howling Wolf and Muddy Waters songs, or a sexy sultry Elvis Presley…he’s definitely going to give an outstanding and unforgettable show!
